Project Engineer

Doetinchem, The Netherlands

What storage systems does a distribution center need to store, buffer, and ship products as efficiently as possible? How can the layout reduce lead times while keeping costs under control? What adjustments are needed to automate a warehouse? These are the kinds of questions our Engineering department deals with.

As a Project Engineer, you ensure the creation of an optimal technical design. You make sure that the detailing of a static storage structure is delivered according to customer specifications, within budget, on schedule and in the correct sequence.

Will you be our new colleague? Read on!

This is what you will do

After the handover of a newly acquired project from our Sales department to the project team, you will plan and execute the engineering process together with your team.

The first phase involves creating a design and aligning the process with our client, external stakeholders and various internal departments. The ultimate goal is a design approved by the client.

Next, you will be responsible for the technical elaboration of this design and, depending on the size and complexity, lead one or more Engineers within your team. You will also ensure proper information transfer to subsequent departments such as Purchasing, Production, and Assembly, and provide support to the Assembly team during execution.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Leading the technical design process for complex customer projects and ensuring all technical aspects are fully covered
  • Translating customer requirements and contractual specifications into complete, accurate technical packages
  • Reviewing and approving drawings and bills of materials prepared by other engineers for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensuring compliant technical designs through risk analyses
  • Being responsible for the content, accuracy, and completeness of the Pre-Info document to guarantee smooth handover to the rest of the organization
  • Monitoring project budgets and timelines; maintaining contact with Central Planning regarding expected schedules
  • Driving continuous improvement of engineering standards and ensuring designs are safe, efficient, and cost-effective
  • Resolving technical bottlenecks and outstanding issues where necessary
