There’s a lot involved in a complex logistics project: technology, planning, teamwork and above all, safety. At the heart of it all? The Site Manager. In this blog, our experienced Site Manager at NEDCON, Grzegorz Szydlowski, shares how he has spent the past eight years ensuring the safe and successful execution of installation projects around the world.
From installer to safety ambassador
After finishing high school, Grzegorz moved to Germany, where he joined an installation company working for major system integrators. His first encounter with NEDCON came during a project in Finland. “We were working next to the NEDCON team and I was impressed by their professional way of working. That’s the level I wanted to reach.” says Grzegorz. Today, as a Site Manager, he is the face of NEDCON on-site.
The role of the Site Manager: more than just supervision
At NEDCON, the Site Manager oversees the execution of complex construction projects from start to finish. On-site, Grzegorz acts as the company’s representative, building strong professional relationships with the client and all other stakeholders. He ensures that every aspect of the project runs safely, efficiently and in line with both general and local regulations. With his practical experience, he also contributes to solving technical challenges, improving product development and guiding new colleagues within the Installation department.
“Ultimately, it’s about turning the plan into reality” he explains.
Safety above all
For Grzegorz, a safe workplace always starts with solid preparation. “We start with thorough planning, including risk assessments and detailed work schedules. Daily toolbox meetings keep the team aligned, both in terms of progress and safety. We closely monitor performance and adjust workflows to manage risks and stay on track.”
New team members receive comprehensive safety training from the beginning. Protocols are strictly followed: wearing proper PPE, adhering to lifting and working-at-height procedures and never bypassing safety systems.
In unexpected situations, Grzegorz applies a simple but powerful principle: Stop and Think. “We train our team to pause work and speak up when something seems off.’’
Engagement on the work floor
This safety culture is strengthened by active team involvement. “We encourage everyone to report risks and suggest improvements through our safety observation system. Their hands-on experience often leads to the most practical solutions.”
Close cooperation with the Health & Safety (H&S) department is also essential. “They keep us sharp with regular updates, training sessions and audits,” says Grzegorz.
Working toward a successful handover
The handover phase is when everything comes together. “We carry out a final inspection, review all documentation and walk through the site with the client. Everything must be in order, technically and in terms of safety.”
What’s the key to a satisfied client? “Open and honest communication. We make sure expectations are clear from the beginning and respond quickly to any questions or concerns. We don’t consider a project finished until the client is fully satisfied.”
Even after handover, NEDCON remains involved. “We’re always available for support or adjustments if needed. A project doesn’t end with the last bolt, we’re committed to building long-term partnerships.”
Thanks to the dedication of our experienced Site Managers, even the most complex installations are delivered successfully, time and time again.
