About NEDCON

NEDCON designs, produces and builds storage racks. Worldwide. Since 2004, NEDCON has been an independent part of the international steel group voestalpine. The NEDCON head office is located in Doetinchem. In addition, we have our own production location in Pardubice (Czech Republic) and there are NEDCON branches in various European countries and the United States. We also offer our products through a resellers network.

What does the assignment look like?

NEDCON designs and installs industrial mezzanine floors (floors with one or more levels). These floors are used to optimize the available space in a warehouse. Components of mezzanine floors are the columns – primary floor beam – connection – secondary floor beam – tertiary floor beam – floor panel and fasteners.

The connection of the primary beam to the column currently does not meet our requirements regarding moment stiffness and the mounting of the beam to the column is not assembly-friendly. A new column connection must be designed for this. Should the redesign of the column connection require the same assembly operations as the current design, the assembly friendliness can be met by designing an assembly aid.

For this assignment you will:

study the current design and installation of the floor;
determine the functional and technical requirements / design specifications;
report and present a redesign with calculation report.

Who are we looking for?

You have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Product Design.
You have affinity with steel construction.
You are good at analyzing. You are good at analyzing information and making connections.
