For more than a decade, NEDCON designs and installs shuttle rails, which enable automated transport of pallets, bins or carton boxes within highly automed warehouses. These thin gauged rails are subject to fatigue. Standards (EN 1993) hardly support the design of these thin gauged components. During this period, NEDCON has had a constant focus on this fatigue design by research and testing.
NEDCON would like to have a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Oppurtunities, Threats) analysis on fatigue sensitive products (rails, etc.). As a preperation to the SWOT analysis, an inventory of existing designs is essential. This provides insights in the design approach of the last decades.
You will be supported by the department of Design Principles & Prototyping, which consists of six experts at MSc level. You will be in contact with all relevant experts within the company.
For this assignment, we are looking for a student (university course) in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering (specialization in Civil Engineering Structures) who is already intrigued by fatigue design and is interested in structural design processes in common.
We look forward to receiving your application for this position. For more information, please send an email to our Internship Supervisor Sandra via firstname.lastname@example.org
