Commercial Business Unit Manager

NEDCON is an organization with more than 500 employees. We produce steel storage systems for manual non-automatic, semi-automatic and fully automatic warehouses. These are impressive projects, sometimes over 30 metres high, which we are able to construct thanks to our knowledge, project experience and innovative strength. We develop, test and produce these systems in-house. Our products are sold across the entire world and installed in the warehouses of international organisations, including well-known mail-order companies, webshops and supermarkets. Along with our head office in the Netherlands, we also have branches in various European countries and the United States.

Together with about 30 colleagues from the Manual Projects Business Unit, we provide end customers in Europe such as DHL, Zalando and Scania with manual warehouse racks. We offer high-quality storage solutions with quality products tailored to the specific requirements of the customer. The business unit coordinates and ensures the quality of the entire process (sales, engineering, project management, planning, production, assembly and after sales).

As a Business Unit Manager, you will be a member of the NEDCON Executive Management Team (NEM) and report directly to the CEO.

What does the job entail?

The duties and responsibilities that this position entails include:

  • Management of the business unit
  • Early detection of opportunities and threats in the market
  • Together with the Management Team, formulating and implementing strategy and sales policy
  • Development of a sales budget and forecast and ensuring the implementation of projects
  • Drawing up an (annual) market report in cooperation with Marketing & Communication
  • Creating and maintaining deeper long-term relationships with customers, partners and prospects
  • Responsible for the financial results within the business unit

Who are we looking for?

A team player capable of motivating the colleagues within the department and who is continuously focused with making improvements. This challenging and responsible function demands a strong leader with broad competences and extensive experience within a technical project-oriented environment. You have knowledge about business development and sales and possess demonstrable managerial competences. You are able to travel regularly, this is the best way to get the most out of the function.

Competences and experience

  • Able to work and think at least at a Bachelor level with a technical background
  • Experience as a business unit manager or sales manager within an international technical organisation, preferably project-oriented
  • Used to the dynamics of large and small projects, as well as the delivery of components from stock
  • Management experience with regard to technical and commercial teams
  • Excellent spoken and written knowledge of the Dutch, English and German languages
  • Experience in a relevant logistic branch is an advantage, however we are open for experience in other industries
